This week I received a bounty of gifts from a human friend that has replaced at least half of my wardrobe and jewelry. These new items are so much better than the old I feel much more capable of doing my duties. I am so very grateful to him and especially love the items he crafted from leather with his own hands. They fit so well, I blush to think of how he must have studied my shape.
After finishing up all the tasks set to me in the Wetlands, I spent a bit of time trying to get a crimson whelping for a pet. After several futile sessions, I had to move on. There were several directives to enter the stockade and assassinate thugs there, men that some felt should be served death instead of prison fare. With a little difficulty, I managed to bring vengeful justice to those whose lives were affected by these lawless men. I should not have entered the stockade alone, as these ruffians are full of bravado until about to die. They run like dogs when death is staring them in the face. All that yelling and screaming brings back a gang of prisoners and twice I was unable to defeat them all. I do not like being a wisp, but at least death did not hold me long.
I also wrapped up a few tasks that sent me into the Arathi Highlands and on over to Southshore in the Hillsbrad Foothills, but I did not agree to do more in those areas as I had much to do on Theramore Isle.
This little gnome at the old lighthouse found this book, Dastardly Denizens of the Deep, about sea monsters and after speaking to some, including Nat Pagle, I found myself back on the docks agreeing to lure one called Tethyr using the restored light from the lighthouse. Twelve marksmen came running to stand ready to shoot the beast once he appeared. My job was to fire upon him using the three mortar cannons positioned on the dock. This is one time when my ability to shapeshift into faster travel form served me well in battle. As a cat, I ran between all the cannons, firing them fast enough to take down Tethyr before he could kill more than two or three marksmen. When I first saw him, I was almost intimidated into running, but I concentrated on my job and succeeded.
Feeling emboldened, I moved toward a privateer ship supposedly carrying propaganda leaflets encouraging the soldiers to desert their posts and Lady Jaina Proudmoore. Getting on the ship was easy enough using stealth, but the tight confines of the lower deck made it difficult for me to avoid detection by one dwarf, who called upon two others to aid him in killing me. Their abilities were equal or better than mine, but thanks to the timely use of my healing spells, I survived. After stealing the leaflets, I looked about for some treasure. So many ships carry treasure, but I found none and after fighting off more gangs of privateers I decided to stop testing my limits and left the ship.
Yes, I am most pleased with my new gear and I must consider how to repay my friend for his generosity.
